Scholarship Opportunities

  • Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway:  Every student deserves a chance to realize their potential.  That’s why Dr. Pepper gave away over $1,000,000 in tuition last year to help students across the country pursue their dreams.  Since 2008, the Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway Promotion and Contest has changed lives by giving away millions of dollars in tuition.  With the challenges of rising tuition costs and studying full-time, Dr. Pepper takes pride in helping students achieve their goals. 

    If you’re a student between the ages of 18-24, you can submit your goal and upload a video at Dr. Pepper Tuition.  Dr. Pepper will select finalists for a chance to compete to win up to $100,000 in tuition at a college football conference championship game this December.  Find more information and get started at:  Dr. Pepper Tuition Deadline:  October 17, 2018

     

    Wendy’s High School Heisman ScholarshipClass of 2019, do you have what it takes to earn a Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship?  Eligibility begins with maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better.  Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community.  And applicants must perform in at least one school sponsored sport.  Application Deadline:  October 17, 2018 by 3:00 p.m.   You must notify your school counselor to submit their part of your application by October 19, 2018 by 3:00 p.m. (it will be your responsibility to notify your counselor)   Apply at: www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com

    Awards: 

    • 90 State Winners will receive $500 scholarships.
    • 10 National Finalists will receive $1,000 scholarships.

    Horatio Alger Scholarship:  In keeping with the mission of the Horatio Alger Association, the scholarship programs provide financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have significant financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  The scholarships are given to deserving students each year and range in award value from $6,000 to $25,000.   Application Deadline:  October 25, 2018

    Eligibility Criteria Include

    • High school senior in the United States with plans to enter college no later than the fall semester following graduation. 
    • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States. 
    • Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income).  Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities. 
    • Hold a minimum GPA of 2.0.  *Be a United States citizen.

    National Rice Month Scholarship Contest:  Create awareness and promote U.S. grown rice, National Rice Month, and the importance of rice to your state via video – and earn scholarship money in the process.  It’s easy to participate!  Make an original video about rice production, healthy eating, sustainability …the list goes on!  You can also conduct promotion activities in your community and showcase your work in a video.  Entries must be received by October 31, 2018. 

    How to enter:  

    1. Create an original video about U.S. rice, National Rice Month, and the importance of rice to your state (must be 3 minutes or less).  
    2. Upload your video to Youtube or Vimeo.

    The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors.  Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.  With the 30th class in 2018, the Foundation has provided over 6,000 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $66 million in educational support.  150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.  Application Deadline:  October 31, 2018

    Requirements

    • Current high school student attending a school in the U.S. who will graduate during the 2018-2019 academic school year. 
    • U.S. Citizen   
    • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution.

  • Hagan Scholarship Foundation Scholarship:  This is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, designed to provide each recipient with the opportunity to graduate college debt free.  The intended recipient of a Hagan Scholarship is a high schieving, self-motivated student who will require financial assistance to attend college.  Each hagan Scholarship provide up to $6000 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters and includes a $15,000 Schwab investment account and fully paid study abroad award.  Application Deadline:  5:00 pm Eastern time on November 15, 2018 Apply at:  Hagan Scholarship Foundation

     

    Sixt Scholars Program:  Sixt rent a car is pleased to offer five high school seniors graduating in 2019 the opportunity to receive a $5,000 scholarship and become a Sixt scholar.  The program is designed to assist high school students who plan to continue their education in college.  Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. The first 500 valid applicants will be considered, available nationwide.  

    Requirements:

    • Student must have a 3.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
    • Be a graduating high school senior in 2019.
    • Plan to enroll in a full time 2 or 4 year university.
    • Must complete an application appraisal form.
    • Provide a copy of your high school transcript.

    Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest:  High school seniors may compete for college scholarships.  A copy of the contestants’ high school transcript must be provided at registration along with a proper ID.  The first place winner will receive $2,000.  Second place will receive $1,000, 3rd place will receive $750, and 4th place will receive $500.  The competition will be on Friday, November 23rd at 11:00 a.m.  The contest is associated with the World’s Champion Duck Calling Contest and will take place on the Main Street Stage beside the Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce.  The contestant will have 90 seconds to use four calls: hail, feed, comeback, and mating.  For more information on the contest you can contact the Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce at 870-673-1602. 

  • AXA Achievement Scholarship:  The AXA Achievement Scholarship, sponsored by the AXA Foundation, provides scholarship awards of $2,500, $10,000 and $25,000, with recipients in every state nationwide.  In addition, every recipient’s high school will receive a grant of $1,000.  The program is open to high school seniors who plan to enroll in a full time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college or university.  Applicants must be United States citizens or legal residents and must have demonstrated ambition and self-drive as evidenced by an outstanding achievement in a school, community, or workplace activity.  More information is available at the AXA Foundation website.  Apply at:  us.axa.com/axa-foundation/AXA-achievement –scholarship

  • American Legion Oratorical Contest:  The purpose of this national high school contest is to develop knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States.  Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to speak clearly, intelligently, and acceptance of the responsibilities as well as the privileges of American Citizenship.  The department contest will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2019.  1st place:  $2500, 2nd place:  $1500, 3rd place:  $1000.  The department winner will represent Arkansas at the national level, which includes an all expense paid trip with a chaperone to Indianapolis, Indiana.  The student will receive an additional cash scholarship award of $1500 for attending the Indianapolis Contest.  For more info, you may contact you local American Legion Post or The American Legion Department of Arkansas Headquarters at 877-243-9799 or alegion@swbell.net or at our website  The American Legion National High School Oratorical Scholarship ProgramApplication Deadline:  January 4, 2019

    Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship:    “Imagine that your high school or college has been overrun with zombies.  Your English teacher, the cafeteria ladies, and even your best friend have all joined the walking dead.  Flesh out a plan to avoid the zombies, including where you’d hide and the top-five things you’d bring to stay alive.”  (250 words or less) 

    Requirements:  

    • Be 13 years of age or older at the time of application.
    • Be legal residents of the 50 United States.
    • Be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2024) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.

  • American Legion Courdet Trust and Garner Trust Scholarships:  The American Legion, Department of Arkansas, is offering eight scholarships to be awarded in the spring of 2019.  Four of the scholarships are form the Courdet Trust Foundation in the amount of $1000 each and four are from the Garner Trust Foundation in the amount of $2500 each.  The criteria for the two scholarship programs differ and will be available only to eligible students.  Selections are based upon American spirit, character, leadership quality, scholastic endeavor, and basis of need.  Most important eligibility qualification is that the applicant must be children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren of American Legionnaires in good standing of two or more consecutive years’ membership.  Application Deadline:  March 19, 2019

  • SunTrust Scholarship Sweepstakes:  Enter for a chance to win $500 in the SunTrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes.  Two new winners will be selected every two weeks, until May 13, 2019!!  If you are a high school senior, you can enter and eligibility is not based on GPA level or financial need.  Entries will be accepted starting September 10, 2018, the first drawing will occur on or about October 29, 2018.  Subsequent drawings are approximately every two weeks thereafter until on or about May 13, 2019.

    Requirements:

    • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
    • Have a permanent residence in Arkansas.
    • Provide proof of enrollment for the fall of 2019 in a U.S. public or private college located in the United States.

  • CollegeSteps Sweepstakes:  Wells Fargo sponsors this award, which is open to high school students ages 14 and up, and all undergraduates.  A total of 12 applicants – six high school students and six college students – are selected throughout the year via random drawing to win $5,000 each. Deadline:  None – random selection throughout the year.  When you sign up for the CollegeSTEPS program, you will be automatically entered into the CollegeSTEPS sweepstakes for a chance to win $5,000.  Two sweepstakes will be conducted to award three high school students and three college students $5,000 at each drawing.  Apply at:  www.scholarships.com/financial/wells-fargo-collegessteps-sweepstakes

     

    Do Something.org Campaign Scholarships:  Volunteer your time for any DoSomething.org campaigns (examples include hosting a canned food drive or sharing ways to combat bullying), and you could win up to $22,000.  Submit photos of your campaign work to enter.  The only requirement is that you’re between 13 and 25 years old; if you’re not in college when you win, the organization will hold onto your prize until you head to college.  Deadline:  Varies by the campaign

    Courage to Grow Scholarship:  This monthly scholarship award of $500 is available to high school juniors and seniors, and college students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. You’ll have to submit a short essay. Deadline:The last day of each month.
